I'm generally pretty leery about .0 releases of software myself and can understand your reservations with Windows 7. The good news with Windows 7 is that it should be relatively bug-free due to two factors: 1) it has had the largest, most exhaustive beta testing program ever and 2) it is mainly built on the Vista core so it is not a totally new OS from the ground up. Market research firm Gartner has come out and advised large business customers not to wait for the first Service Pack because Win7 is stable enough now.

From my testing I have found it to be very stable and it performs great even on older hardware. There will be plenty more info about Windows 7 prior to October 22 so you will have lots more data to review before making your decision.

I've been holding out for 7 - I have 2 Vista machines backed off to XP ... hoping to upgrade by hopping over Vista. Thanks for the review and info. I never go with .0 releases tho - I'll wait until after at least the first update.

Sue, Glad the information was helpful. All indications are that Windows 7 should be a real solid product and be a significant jump beyond Vista. My personal testing of Windows 7 has been real positive with it running well even on older, lower horsepower computers. It's a real step forward from Windows XP also, plus inital tests indicate that Win7 is more secure than XP.
